Pet Therapy Dog Joins Rural Health Staff
The Center for Rural Health (CRH) is excited to welcome our first OSU Pete's Pet Posse therapy dog! Maggie, a two-year-old boxer mix rescued from the banks of the Arkansas River, belongs to CRH Coordinator of Rural Research and Grant Development, Dr. Krista Schumacher.
Maggie is a member of the third class of Pete's Pet Posse Tulsa (P3T) and received her AKC Canine Good Citizen and Alliance of Therapy Dogs certification in March. In addition to P3T, Maggie and Krista are also members of the Tulsa-based Karing K9s therapy dog group, which visits both urban and rural communities in the area. Because of Maggie's rural Oklahoma roots, she thinks her job of bringing smiles to Rural Medical Track students, CRH staff, and rural residents is a dream come true.
