Celebrate National Rural Health Day on November 15, 2012 with the OSU Center for Rural Health!
In the United States, approximately 62 million Americans (1 in 5 persons) live in rural areas. In Oklahoma, the percentage is significantly higher, with nearly half of the state's population living in rural areas (1.7 million residents). Rural communities are popular in Oklahoma because they're wonderful places to live and work. These communities drive much of the state's economy through energy, agriculture, and livestock, yet they are too often neglected when it comes to health care access.
Please join us in recognizing the people who help ensure quality health care for our rural neighbors. Tell someone who is making a difference in the health of a rural community thanks.
You can also help us celebrate National Rural Health Day by participating in the Rural Oklahoma Photo Contest. We're asking folks to submit photos that display rural scenes, including landscapes, buildings, community events, health fairs, neighbors, etc. Any picture that reflects one of the joys of rural life qualifies. The OSU Center for Rural Health will select its favorite submission and display it on the Rural Health Blog. The person who submits the winning picture will win a basket of OSU Center for Health Sciences goodies.
Submit your Photo Contest entry by uploading your entry to the OSU Center for Rural Health Facebook Page. Simply click "Share: Photo > Upload a Photo." Choose a file on your computer, and where it asks you to "Say something about this photo...", please enter "Photo Contest: (photo title)". The winner will be notified and announced via Facebook.

Contest Rules, Terms, and Conditions
- Submission of a photograph to the OSU Center for Rural Health's website implies consent to Contest Rules, Terms, and Conditions
- Photographer must be 18 years of age or older to participate in the <i>2012 Rural Oklahoma Photo Contest
- Photographer grants unlimited, nonexclusive use license to the OSU Center for Rural Health. The OSU Center for Rural Health reserves the right to use the photographs in printed materials and by electronic means in the promotion of Oklahoma State University programs.
- The contest will run from August 15, 2012 to November 15, 2012. To be considered a timely submission, all photographs must be submitted and timestamped on the OSU Center for Rural Health's Facebook page by November 15, 2012 (central time).
- Photographs must be taken in the State of Oklahoma.
- The OSU Center for Rural Health is not responsible for late, lost, damaged, destroyed, or misdirected entries, or for miscommunications, misdirected transmissions, or other errors of any kind whether human or electronic.
- Contest entrants agree to abide by the terms of these official rules and by the decisions of the judges, which are final on all matters pertaining to the contest.
- By entering, participants release and hold harmless Oklahoma State University and the OSU Center for Rural Health, as well as any directors or employees of the department.
- If you do not have a valid Facebook account, please email your photos to osururalhealth@gmail.com and we will post them to the OSU Center for Rural Health's Facebook page.
- OSU Center for Rural Health staff and their immediate family may enter the contest, but are not eligible to win.
