Deaths due to Chronic Lower Respiratory Diseases, 1999-2007

The map below shows the age-adjusted mortality rate due to chronic lower respiratory diseases from 1999-2007. The overall rate for Oklahoma was 55.7 deaths per 100,000 population, with a rate of 55.4 deaths per 100,000 population for rural counties (see map of rural Oklahoma). Dewey County had the highest rate at 79.2 deaths per 100,000 population and Harper County had the lowest rate at 33.3 deaths per 100,000 population. Regionally, southeast Oklahoma had the highest rate at 57.4 deaths per 100,000 population. The lowest regional rate was in northwest Oklahoma, including the Panhandle, at 50.6 deaths per 100,000 population. Northeast Oklahoma had a rate of 56.6 deaths per 100,000 population and the southwest region had a rate of 56.0 deaths per 100,000 population.
